"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
How long have you been on DeviantArt? Six years oh my god. What does your username mean? When I started getting junk mail from colleges encouraging me to apply to them, a few of them only had 7 spaces to put my name, and "Madeleine" has 9 letters. So the mail would read "Madelei, you are important to us!" I thought it was hilarious and ironic and I'd never had any other nickname besides "Maddy," so I made it my username. Describe yourself in three words. Brooding, curious, maker. Are you left or right handed? Right. I've tried to become ambidextrous before but I always lose patience haha. What was your first deviation? It was my best work and I thought I was the absolute master of colored pencils. What is your favorite type of art to create? Stuffed animals. I don't have any use for them (and neither does anyone I give them to), but they just make so much sense to me and I love bringing them into being. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be? I wish I was good at drawing. I guess I'm better than normal non-artist people, but when I'm in a figure drawing class or somewhere with other artists I just feel really inept. You'd think taking art classes all throughout grade school and going to art college for four years would change that, but sometimes I don't feel like I'm any better than I was when I drew that red-sailed ship back in 2009.
What was your first favorite? by I actually joined deviantArt just so I could favorite it and ask the artist for tips on making polymer clay book covers. She was super cool and helpful and inspired me to me make this: What type of art do you tend to favorite the most? Animal art dolls, sometimes called "room guardians." Who is your all-time favorite deviant artist? Griffsnuff. She makes the greatest creatures, always in cool styles, and with such nice color palettes! She's so funny, too. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be? Griffsnuff again I guess; she sounds like a super fun person. It'd also be fun to hang out with and make room guardians. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life? So many wonderful people have provided inspiration and encouragement over the years, but probably my favorite was when someone sent me a note telling me that they loved my art journals and started keeping their own journal just because of me. Really added some purpose to what I do. What are your preferred tools to create art? I like experimenting with every medium I can find, often using recycled/found objects. Scissors are great, too. I hate X-Acto knives. Scissors are where it's at. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art? Just a room with no distractions. I like to sit on the floor with all my supplies spread out around me. What is your favorite DeviantArt memory? Definitely when I found out about my first Daily Deviation. It wasn't like winning a contest at my tiny school, or just my family telling me I was good--it was the REAL DEAL. It was the first time I ever felt like my work was actually legit, good enough for the real world, and that I might really have a chance at a successful art career. I freaked out and cried and showed everyone I knew.
Well that's my little stuff. Share a link to yours if you did this too!
